The Electrochemical Society

The mission of The Electrochemical Society is to advance theory and practice at the forefront of electrochemical and solid state science and technology, and allied subjects. To encourage research, discussion, critical assessment, and dissemination of knowledge in these fields, the Society holds meetings, publishes scientific papers, fosters training and education of scientists and engineers, and cooperates with other organizations to promote science and technology in the public interest.

The Electrochemical Society has a birthplace of historic distinction – Philadelphia, PA. At the very beginning, 1902, ECS was called the American Electrochemical Society, but, it was, even then, a melting pot of scientific and technological disciplines, and of their adherents, who participated from around the globe.

The 19th century saw many applications of electricity to chemical processes and chemical understanding. Bridging the gap between electrical engineering and chemistry led innovative young people in industrial and academic circles to search for a new forum to discuss developments in the burgeoning field of electrochemistry.

Here at Texas A&M, the ECS branch was established in 2016 to promote electrochemical and solid state science and technology at Texas A&M University and enrich students' lives by organizing activities and holding events such as seminars and conferences. Our chapter is also committed to the professional development of its members by providing opportunities to enhance their network of contacts in academia and in industry.
